Sponsorship and advertising

Here are 4 ways that you can connect with our community of developers, architects, investors, local authorities and professionals engaged in place-led work in urban centres in the UK

1. Partner content

We collaborate with enlightened partners and help them connect with our community through our podcast, newsletter, magazine, website, social media and events. From our popular podcast to the print edition of The Developer, we offer the opportunity to align your brand with our values, make a deeper connection with our engaged community of relevant professionals and showcase your expertise. Our relationship with some companies, like Vestre, began with a desire to showcase their street furniture and ethos. Others, like Civic Engineers, wanted to showcase their expertise and thought leadership. Some firms like Muse were rebranding and wanted to increase recognition. Whatever your needs, we look forward to working with you.

2. Event sponsorship

The Developer is more than a media partner for the Festival of Place – it plays a critical role in the content curation, providing bespoke opportunities for deeper networking through roundtable and panel discussions, walking tours and workshops. If you are tired of playing conference roulette when it comes to networking and would like to meet relevant partners, get in touch. We will put together a bespoke package for your support of The Pineapples or the Festival of Place that will deliver on your objectives and include publication and promotion through The Developer and its media channels, expanding your reach. The Pineapples awards are a celebration of great places and relevant sponsors can get involved in judging, presenting and awarding great places and their teams of developers, architects, funders and local authorities. The Festival of Place is a one-day conference plus a series of digital events attended by senior-level decision-makers and influencers working in place and urban regeneration, property development and renewal projects across the UK. We are also really nice people.

3. Print advertising

Nothing beats the legitimacy and staying power of print, recognised in scientific studies to deliver messages that people remember for longer and more accurately than images on screen. We deliver The Developer magazine into the hands of thousands of director-level professionals, and five copies are delivered to organisation members as a benefit where this uncommonly beautiful and interesting publication is showcased, shared and treasured. The result? A circulation of 2,500 magazines with an estimated pass-on readership of 5 – that’s 10,000 readers in UK placemaking and regeneration. From reception coffee tables to the canteen library, our magazine is a coveted read in offices across the UK. Give authority and presence to your message by showcasing your brand, products or thought leadership on its back cover, inside cover or within its pages. Published twice yearly. We can add in a digital campaign too, if you would like to advertise in our online newsletter or on our website.

4. Your idea here

Whether a special report or a design charette, a recruitment need or a one-off event, our team has delivered creative campaigns for a range of objectives and look forward to working with you.

About us

The Developer is the brainchild of its Editor-in-Chief Christine Murray, former editor of the Architects’ Journal and The Architectural Review, working in partnership with former colleague James Macleod, its Director. Frustrated by professional silos, media bubbles and industry echo chambers, Murray wanted to create purpose-driven content, awards and events that would bring professionals together to make better cities and a positive social impact.

The Developer and the Festival of Place are about how to build communities that thrive, places where people want to live, work, play and learn. We bring together developers, investors, local government, architects, urban designers and the wider project and placemaking team through inspiring events and media channels. We amplify expert, fresh, diverse and challenging voices. We also give free and subsidised tickets away to charities, community groups and those who need them. If you’re interested in contributing, please contact Editor-in-chief Christine Murray at christine@thedeveloper.live  If you would like to connect with our audience through our events and publications online and in print, contact Portfolio Director James Macleod at james@thedeveloper.live

Partner with us

You can promote your contribution to making better places and align with our values by advertising or sponsoring The Developer, our podcast, weekly email, the Festival of Place events and our magazine, hand-delivered to leaders in private and public-sector development, investors, local government and key influencers. We carry partner content, supported by or sponsored by practices or consultants who seek to promote their initiative, approach or service. Under our editorial guidelines, an article is considered partner content if it covers a service, a single building or product, or the general approach of a single practice, consultant or manufacturer. To connect with our audience through our events and publications, contact Director James Macleod at james@thedeveloper.live
