The Developer hosted a free Festival of Place Bytesize event with architect and urbanist Nathalie de Vries, founding partner of MVRDV and recently appointed City Architect of Groningen, the largest city in the north of The Netherlands.

The event was run in association with the IE Women Scholarship and its new master programme for professionals, the part-time online Global Master in Real Estate Development aimed at the next-gen of investors, developers, architects and urban planners.

De Vries founded MVRDV in 1993, together with Winy Maas and Jacob van Rijs, an interdisciplinary studio with a global scope that works at the intersection of architecture and urbanism.

Her varied oeuvre achieved international fame for connecting individuals, communities, and environments, visible in the many – often award-winning – projects that De Vries has realised over the past 27 years, in the Netherlands, France, Germany, Poland and the United States. From 2015 to 2019, De Vries was chairman of the Royal Institute of Dutch Architects (BNA).

She currently combines her work for MVRDV with her professorship at TU Delft, and was recently appointed City Architect for Groningen. As Professor of Architectural Design, specialising in public buildings, it is her mission to show how designers can contribute to solving social problems.

IE University, whose Global Online MBA is placed 1st by QS and 2nd by Financial Times, has now launched a Master to train the next-gen of investors, developers, architects and urban planners.

With the IE Global Master in Real Estate Development part-time, you will learn about development, investment and city infrastructure, trends in digital innovation, sustainability and real estate technologies, public-private partnerships and smart cities, sustainability, and how to create value for cities and communities.

If you are passionate about Real Estate, if you are a city-maker, this part-time program is for you. Strike the balance between academic progress, personal fulfilment, and professional growth and expand your network worldwide. Just log in from wherever you are around the globe.

Click here to register to attend the free talk. It will run from 10am-11am GMT on 2 March.

Bytesize offers a free taste the Festival of Place, with our next event taking place 22-26 March with Festival of Place: Social Impact.
