Why attend?
The conference will explain policy shifts and regulatory changes that will impact the design of public spaces, housing, masterplans and placemaking.
Case studies will show how architects, Local Authorities and developers are adapting including what professionals need to know to stay relevant and up-to-date.
Taking place on Friday 8 November, 2019 at the Illuminate space at the Science Museum, London, and will discuss the critical contents of the Draft Environment Bill, making this timely event not to be missed.
Sessions including:
Regulatory and planning changes – what do you need to know
Projects will soon be required to increase the biodiversity on site by 10% after development.. Find out what you need to know about how the new metric will impact you, and tips and tricks on hitting it in urban contexts with an efficient use of land.
Making Resilience add up
How do you choose where to put your money when it comes to investing in climate resilience or other initiatives? Find out how you can make the right business choices when balancing the cost of investing in resilience and the potential cost of risk in a fast-changing context
Case studies on designing for water
Flooding and drought are the new reality, are you prepared? Learn about the different ways in which places are unlocking development, designing, developing and planning for water, from smart canals to water squares.
Circular economy: what you need to know
Policy on implementing the circular economy is coming, and other industries are ahead of construction when it comes to taking the blockchain approach. How will this impact placemaking over the next decade, and what does it mean to ‘go circular’ in design and construction? Where do you start in rethinking the way you operate?
Making healthy places
With falling life expectancy and moral panic about air pollution, how can you positively impact the health and wellbeing of tenants and citizens? This session will explore what the science tells us about designing healthy cities and examine what greening projects have made a difference to communities in the UK.
